pre plenum checklist
looking to get everything in order for doing the plenum this weekend. here's what i've come up with so far:
plate and bolts--ebay
intake bolts--dealership.....which was actually about $13 cheaper then a local b&m
fel-pro gasket set
autolite plug wires
champion spark plugs
3 piece timing gear set---and gaskets of course!
accel rotor
accel cap
180 t-stat
i talked to redhead about a summit tune up kit that includes wires/rotor/cap for about $63 out the door. the only reason i am going this route is because advance is offering 15% off and $50 off the purchase of $100 or more later (bogo o2 sensors
).
all that out the door is $130 after discount. and then the $50 off $100 later.
now of course i didn't include any of the locktite, oil, filter, stuff like that. just looking for the major components.
comments? questions? concerns?

that ought to do it.
just my 2 cents here.........i went with the hudges plenum plate. i heard a lot of good things about them. i started to get the ebay plate but i figure i would get what i paid for. also dont go cheap on the intake bolts. my buddy broke his bolt off when he was torqueing then down. these dont get heavy torque anyway.
good luck and your truck will thank you for the plenum fix.

as far as bolts it was recommended to grab them straight from the dealer not only for better quality, but cheaper (thanks heyyou).
Gonna need a gasket set for the timing cover, etc. as well. Make sure it comes with the front crank seal. (and no sleeve.....)
How old is your water pump? You are going to have it off anyway, good time for a new one?

There is nothing wrong with the ebay plenum plate...its not rocket science....its just a 1/4 aluminum plate. The ones from ebay are the same quality as hughes with less overhead. Sad part with some of the horror stories I have heard about hughes I trust a fellow forum member that has a good rep.
What are you doing about water pump and add a bypass hose into your list

redhead whats the bypass hose for?
bypass hose goes between the water pump and intake manifold, its a pain an the *** to get to and cracks over time, its cheap and one of those things to change while it easy instead of going back in a week later to tear everything back down.
