still transmission problems
Really need to plug a scanner into it, and see if there are any pending, or history codes. Try a different parts store with a scanner, and see if they will plug in for you. Or, if there is a trans shop nearby, that you can trust....... have a chat with them.
Something else to consider would be.... dropping the trans pan, and seeing what you find inside. Get some fluid, and a filter kit, pull it, and see what there is to see. If you have a boatload of miles on the truck, may not hurt to adjust the bands as well.

Try a different parts store to get the codes read.
Not all transmission codes will set a light.
I install an aux cooler on my tranny when i replaced it and bypased the radiator cooler.
First cold day truck would not shift into overdrive, and no CEL.
Put code reader on it and had code for tranny temp was to cold.
It would not shift into O/D. Temp has to be within 70 degrees of engine temp
to shift into O/D.
I would try resetting the PCM. If it got hot i bet it sent a code and if you havent cleared that code that may be why it wont shift to overdrive.
Disconnect neg battery cable and turn key to start position for 20-30 seconds to clear codes.

i hate to say it, but you may have a problem that's going to require more than one or two quick ideas.
going back to the beginning, you need to know how low on fluid did the transmission get, as in how much did it take to fill it back up? 1 qt, 2 qt, 3 or 4.
how long was it run low on fluid? 1 day, 2 day, a week, more?
did it get to the point of slipping? as in you press the gas, then engine revs up, but the truck doesn't go anywhere? if so, for how long.
are you checking the fluid level with engine running, and in neutral, not park? if not, do so.
the higher rpm's indicate the transmission is either not shifting up to the higher gears, or is still slipping. you'll need to find out which.
if the rattling sound during acceleration is new, and only started after the transmission low fluid condition, then that's a bad sign. if its always been there, we can consider that it might be spark knock (pinging), which these trucks are known to do. but if its a suddenly new noise, then its likely important.
if the rattling sound can be blamed on pinging, then the transmission might respond to being serviced with fluid, filter, and (band adjustment only by someone that knows what they are doing). and as montec would say on shifting problems, clean or replace governor pressure sensor and solenoid and if that don't fix it... go to the transmission shop.
i'd recommend you take it to a mechanic for a diagnosis of what's wrong. expect to pay about an hour's worth of labor, which might cost $50-100. don't automatically do whatever he says, as you might need a second opinion if its bad.
replacing both an engine and transmission with a new or rebuilt one is going to be an expensive project. make sure the rest of the truck is worth it. if you're sure you need these replacements, call your local junk yards for pricing, and if you need one, also ask them for recommendations on installers (and get a warranty, typically 90 days to 1 year).

alright i will do, but tranny took 2qts to fill. it was one day or two it had low fluid. it started shifting funny (to quick at the start) im getting all my shift just like normal only thing not happening is my over drive is not coming on.
Probably your best bet is going to be a shop somewhere.... but, they will want to charge you diagnosis time.....
Other option is, if you have a laptop, you can buy a cable, download some free software, and there you have a very versatile scanner, that will also data log.

Find a reputable shop that just doesnt throw a rebuild at you. A good shop will drive the truck with a scan tool and tell you whats going on.
Make sure a transmission mechanic drives it. Many of these big shops have "managers" that drive the cars. They have no clue what they are doing and work off of commission, so everything that comes in will be and overhaul.
