alright i found a scan tool from wal mart for 160, what should i do once i have. i checked out shops and they were saying about 90 bucks just to scan it so i figured buy it and split the cost with my friend who needs also.
If you scanner can read data, you want to find where it tells you what O/D is doing..... it will be a yes/no, or on/off kind of thing..... see what it says when you think it should be in O/D.
i took my truck out to a long road to check all my shifts. i was only get two major shifts. trying everything before spending 160 on a tool i might not need.
O/D and TCC solenoids usually come as a set. (on the same bracket....) Gotta drop the valve body to get them. I vaguely remember a thread that someone didn't have to though???? Unsure there..... I would verify that the solenoid is getting power, and that the PCM is grounding it before replacing it though. Creative use of a volt meter, or test light, should do the trick.
