Nothing wrong with preventative maintenance. Explain the problem you are having with the knock in more detail, and my DF friends and I will be more than happy to help diagnose it.

Well I don't seem to be having the low speed knock in 4wd. But the problem I'm having is when I'm driving in first and accelerating steadily up to 2000 Rpms, when I let go of the gas it shifts into second and knocks. I can video tape it if you would like a better explanation. Thanks

that's just driveline slop, and is pretty normal in a 4wd vehicle. If you just hold steady pressure on the gas, does it do it as well?

i have the same issue, if i let off the gas around the time it shifts it clunks pretty loud, but ive noticed if i stay on the gas till after it shifts to 2nd and then slowly let off the gas it wont clunk. i was wondering if it was the t case snap ring or not but it does sound like the driveline or for some reason i think of the torque converter when i hear it, does the t converter have any play?

Ya I could move it when I was tightening down the bolts. I figured it was the 4wd and it does not knock holding the throttle steady
