Default Uh oh tranny problem

Hey guys im new to this site and im having an issue. My trucks an 02 ram 2500 (old body) gas 5.9 with an auto tranny and 4x4, my newest issue i used to only notice on the beach in 4x4 at maybe 10 mph in 2nd gear the truck would buck back and fourth kinda feels like when your in a friends 5 speed that doesnt know how to drive it! Now im noticing that in 2 wheel under a very light acceleration when she shifts from 1st into 2nd as sopn as it hits second it does this "bucking" maybe bucks once or twice then its firmly into 2nd, but under half throttle or even full it shifts mint sometimes slightly hard but shifts fine nonetheless. It seems as tho if it shifts into 2nd before or right around 2k rpms it does this bucking, any help would be greatly appreciated! I put this motor in about 3 months ago on my back in the driveway and im no tranny guy but ill try anything before i get raped at a tranny shop thanks guys!

Check the throttle position sensor. It should sweep smoothly from under 1 volt at closed throttle, to over 3.5 at wide open throttle. If either spec is wrong, or the readings jump around a lot, replace it.

Welcome to DF
Have you check the PCM for any stored transmission codes? I think you may have either a governor or TPS problem.

Hey guys thanks alot im not really sure on how to test the Voltage on the tps the motor that i put in has roughly 80k you think i should just do the tps? And i was reading about the tranny common problems and it seems the governor is a major issue but i also dont have access to a good obd2 scanner other than advanced auto lol so im kinda **** out of luck

all you need is a cheap analog meter to test the TPS. You can get 'em at places like radio shack.....

Need to find a friend that works as a mechanic.

If you can get a guage, see what line pressures look like while driving.

When is the last time the fluid and filter were changed? How many miles on the truck?
