Default True or Y Piped Duals with No Cats

Looking for insight from people with either true duals or y-piped that have removed the catalytic converter, and how the performance has been.

Reason I ask is I'm wanting to open up the air intake and exhaust, probably going to go with a K&N CAI (damn things aren't cheap either) and upgrade the exhaust. But I've read some people say they've had issues with the truck after removing the cat's (running rough, stuff like that). My old 98 K1500 had a K&N CAI, removed cat, magnoflow muffler (don't know what series) and was y-piped out the back, it was just a 305 and had lots of power.

Also on the list is the Hughes Plenum fix so this probably isn't a bad time to think about doing something with the catalytic converter either.

What ya'll think?

Thanks

I've youtubed the flowmaster 40, it does sound good. I'm wanting to get ride of the factory y pipe, I've read over and over that Jeg's has a good replacement for that....

Ditch the cat and y pipe run anti fowler's for the post o2 to prevent a cel. I can't say what the diff is with a cat or without one as I had mine removed back in 96.

No. putting cats on a truck adds restriction. Restriction is bad. You lose power. Now, would you even notice the power loss? Probably not. If your area doesn't require them, don't worry about it.

I ran true duals on mine with glasspacks and took off the cat. It seems a little peppier but it sure as heck sounds a lot faster! lol Mine is a 98 with a 360 but I had no problems at all with any CEL. Didn't need to use the non foulers or anything.

I live in Southwest Georgia, the words emission's control is like a foreign language around here

So dumping the cat's wouldn't be a concern for inspections or anything. Here in Ga they don't even do a yearly vehicle inspection.

Not that's it's a big deal, and lots of people eliminate the cat, just keep in mind it's a Federal law to have them on vehicles that came with them. And also, it's just as bad to open up the exhaust too much, as it is having too much restriction.
