When you replace yours think about doing a walkthrough. Take pictures of every step then afterwards do a nice writeup.

That is not a dash but a dash cover. It is designed to go over top of your existing dash, not replace it. (It states right at the top of the page that it is a dash pad.)

Get the bottom part of the dash from the junkyard. New, they are going to be some serious dollars...

Yes it does state dash pad and thank goodness it does because on page 95 of the same catalog it lists dash covers. And there is a distinct difference between the 2 parts. The 1 on the link is what we have all had fall apart on us only less expensive and according to LMC Trucks a lot better quality materials. The other on page 95 of the same catalog is what you said it's a cover. Look at the differences between the pics of each. Plus I did call and confirm with them the differences this morning. It's being called the dash pad instead of what most of us call the dash panel or dash board. It's just their terminology however they deffinitely do distinguish between it being a dash pad and not a dash cover which they do sell both versions for those lucky enough to only have a small crack lol. (notice I said lucky) I think I'm gonna go with it as well as the reinforcement tabs they list when I get into this little project. Between the dash pad and the reinforcement pads/tabs whatever you want to call them I'd still be out less money than any where else that has been mentioned so far. And of course the bezel needs replaced as well that part I busted myself one day when I was driving and got a phone call that pissed me off and I took it out on the truck by slamming my fist down on the top of the bezel lol.

As far as getting one of the bottom halfs from the junkyard. Around these parts every ram in the yards that I've seen had a destroyed dash from the crash that landed them in the yard in the first place. So I was hoping that maybe one of you guys knew of an aftermarket source for this piece as well. Especially since the fact of the matter is that even if I did find a good one at the yard it would have approximately the same age on it as well as the same brittleness caused by the sun that has caused the status of my current dash.

And I do plan to make a write up of it all once I round up the money for these trim pieces. In the mean time though I got a broken A/C that I've got to fix. Florida heat ain't no laughing matter. Plus I still need a better source for the bottom half than dodge that plastic they used is pure crap....

The dash from Geno's is a FULL replacement dash also made with better plastic, as the page states. The only thing is, it needs to painted to match(and the price is higher). I saw that LMC was selling the dash for 250 a couple months ago,in someones post, and just forgot about it.

Zman17 you probably saw it in that A/C Evaporator Replacement Thread that I referenced. You've contributed quite a bit to that thread from what I saw there. Regardless that's where I found the LMC link. I had looked at their page a while back and they only offered the dash covers at the time. I was pleasantly surprised to see they started offering these replacements that are color matched for even less. $329 is a great deal but it does say trimming and painting required. So LMC will be the place for me personally.

I'm not arguing, so don't get me wrong. But, I will guarantee they both get them from the same manufacturer. Geno's just has a better description. And when you open up the one from LMC, the directions are going to say the same thing. I can't argue the point that the one from LMC is cheaper (obviously). Which by the way, is very rare for LMC.

Hey no arguments with what you said either. I agree with what you've said. just got off the phone with a local dodge dealer they said $829 for the lower dash piece. Surely there has to be a better source to replace that piece of craptastic plastic. If not I may try epoxying the heck out of it with some mesh reinforcement and then put it back together till it breaks again. The guy swore that the A-pillar trim pieces would have to be replaced as well that they have got to come out in order to replace the dash. But no where have I found anyone saying anything to back up what that mere parts jockey has said. In fact none of the books I have say anything about pulling those trim pieces out in order to remove the dash from the vehicle.

Any comments as to wether he's correct about the a pillar trim pieces? I can't help but believe that he got to heavy handed with them coming out when he supposedly did the dash in his fathers truck. Sounds like the song and dance of a parts jockey wanting to upsale.

Some one is telling you crap info. I have removed the A pillars on plenty of these trucks. They pop right off. Plus people add gauges to them and have no problem. You just have to be careful, like the dash front trim bezel.
