My tailgate wont open unless you push into it. I had a customer drop off a transmission in the back of a truck like mine. When i opened his tailgate i just instinctively pushed it while I pulled the handle.
He said "ah, you must have a ford, you know the tailgate trick." LOL.

PB sucks!!!!!!!!! Get some Cyclo Breakaway. After you clean the back of the handle mechanism ,latches, the rods(and plastic clips),use some grease or CRC or Cyclo white lithium grease to lube them up.
You can also get new bushings for the pivots from the HELP section. (might have to order them depending on what part store you go to).
