sounds about right. don't overtighten them or it'll deform the gasket and bend/dimple the lip.

i tighten mine up firm but choked up on the ratchet so you can't get any leverage. that's about 15-20 pounds.

dhvaughan, I was looking at your sig and I noticed you got some pretty big tires on the stock 3.55 gears. Have you noticed any issues with the tranny or rear end running oversize tires?

I got some 17" wheels that I just posted in the for sale section, if I don't get any bites by January they're going on my truck.

13 is correct for 1/4" bolts.

no problems, other than the tires are at the max size for my seat of the pants torque/power meter. some people run even larger with stock engine and gears but i wouldn't recommend it.

large tires won't hurt anything in the drive train, but i wouldn't recommend a setup that won't hold overdrive or downshifts excessively. in my opinion 32-33" is the absolute max on 3.55 gears.

just doing an exercise in math....
comparing the stock 225 (29.3) tires vs 285 (32.8") is a 12% increase.
this changes the effective gearing from 3.55 to 3.12 which is ****-poor but tolerable.
285 tires combined with gearing of 3.98 (not avail) would return the effective ratio to 3.55.
