Too cold is just as bad as too hot. I think the 'ideal' range is 160 to 180?

 

I think thats correct. I know when its like 30 below zero here i don't have overdrive to protect the tranny.(kinda sucks on the 75mph hwy lol)

 

If you hit 220 on the pressure side it's time to pull over just as quick as you can and let it cool (put it in Neutral and rev the engine to 1500 RPM or so to keep the fan turning/coolant flowing, and don't move it again until you get down to some more reasonable temp). If you hit 220 in the pan it's time to change out the ATF ASAP because the internals have just seen 240+.

The way I figger it: If you're getting within 20 degrees of danger more than once in a very while it's time to upgrade the cooling system before Murphy's Law costs you a slushbox.

 

Anyone have pictures of it installed in place of the check valve or in a line?Also if you mounted it in place of check valve or in a line, what parts did you need? I can't decide on a gauge and it appears some come with a t fitting and some just come with a 1/8 fitting or something.

 

Here is a pic of an autometer electric gauge and single pod. I put the 1/8" npt sensor in the diagnostic port on the side of the trans. Average driving in the city I see 180-200 and about 160 down the freeway.

I have the trans lines going from the trans to remote filter to after-market cooler then back to trans.

DONT BUY THE ONE I LINKED (B&M tranny temp gauge) it doesn't fit into the cooler lines if that was what you were planning, mine came in today and it doesn't fit, going to have to do some mods lol.

 

Pic didnt show. Didn't know there was a test port either lol... Was gunna buy the B&M gauge, won't now! lol.

where is the port at? and did the fitting that came with the gauge fit?
