Haha it actually wasn't difficult. I've done enough of them now to really know what I am getting into. Now I am working on this spring swap. I am going big for sure, not sure the 38s will cut it but we shall see.
I knew I wanted to pull the front axle 3 inches forward to center it. Just measured to see if I needed to change my front hangar location, it is dead nutts perfect!
I am just gonna clean it up and paint it. sooo all I have to do is tear it down and swap in the new springs, then weld on new shackle hangars 5 inches forward. I am scard to say this and gynx myself, but front end should be pretty straight forward.

The main point is I like sittin high! If I wanna go 4x later I can. No need for it now.
The main reason for 44 is cost. Want to put the money into suspension while it is still 2wd for now, and if I wanna go 4x later than I will ****** up a 60. Too much customer work going on, haven't gotten to work on beefy much yet... I will keep u up to date tho!

gd....questions are not foolish, that is how you learn!
the reason that i switched from ifs to solid axle is because with large lifts and tires, independent suspension becomes very difficult to dial in the allignment. also the large tires tend to wear out wheel bearings in independent suspension.
when a straight axle is swapped in, it gives you perfect camber and caster (as long as install is done well) so the only thing that can be adjusted is the toe, and typically with used axles the tie rods are set, and as long as the ball joints are still good on the tie rod end, then the toe is good to go.
keep watchin, i am about to go to the shop, and will be gettin work done today!

Thanks. That's what i like about this forum. My wife thinks I have gained an addition on thie Ram project. I like to read and learn and see what others are doing. The abbriviations throw me sometimes, and when my curiousity gets to me, I have to ask.

Ok customer work is done, time for some work on beefy. I am gonna be m/aking my shackles and hangers right now, that way I can just roll through the swap without having to fab anything.
I have a old set of shackles I am going to shorten and widen. With the high arch spring I only want a 4 inch eye to eye shackle, these are 5.5. And as you can see they are to narrow.
Here is the pair, and always remember to remove the bushing before cutting and welding, that will melt them.
Ok I am bak to work now, will post more pics in a lil while!
