The other end is attached to the middle of the front axle, i assume dash assembly wires.

That's not a "cable". It's a tube. Most likely just the vent for the front axle. What does the other end connect to? As far as the speedo and ABS light. That is the RWAL sensor on top of the rear end housing. Or the fuel line next to the gas tank has a pinhole in it.

EDIT: Sorry , I meant brake line next to the tank, not fuel line.

ok, brake light is on, abs light on, engine light on, speedometer and odometer not functioning. no wear on the Front passenger brake disk, its rusted.(the other one is shiny). Same thing happened a year ago and my guy said front caliper replaced and he had to 'reattach' the speedometer. i will have them fix the brakes, but thought I could at least get my speedo working by myself.
whats a RWAL and where do i find it?

Rear Wheel Anti-Lock brakes. (as opposed to 4wal... 4 wheel anti-lock brakes....) Sensor is on top of the rear differential. The only electrical component on there. Should be easy to see.

Nope. 4wal was an option for most of the second gen run, didn't matter if you had two, or four wheel drive. Check your front wheels, see if there is an electrical connector going to them as well as the brake line, if there is, you have 4wal, if there isn't, Rwal.

If you do indeed have 4wal, you will need to take it somewhere to get the codes read to find out why the lights are on for sure.... although, the speedo not working kinda points to the rear ABS sensor.... or, if you have one, the output speed sensor which may or may not be mounted into the side of the trans, or t-case output shaft housing. have a look, see what you see.

Default wheel speed sensor wire on front brakes?

2001 service manual says something about wheel speed sensor wire on front passenger side. assuming my caliper is frozen up/broken, would this cause speedometer to stop working and ABS lite?
