The heavier duty shocks might be valved a bit different, which would give you a stiffer ride. Won't increase payload capacity at all.

Not that I am aware of. Upper mounts will be exactly the same.... lowers might use a bigger bolt.... Don't know..

The shocks for non-diesel/V10 2500s are sometimes the exact same as for the 1500s. Some of them are for 6400/7600# GVWR and then the ones for the 8800# GVWR will be different, though I think they mount exactly the same. The lighter duty shocks simply can't damp the heavier springs so you just keep bouncing.

Make sure you get shocks rated for 8800# GVWR, the parts description should say that specifically. If you don't, the front will have a tendency to keep oscillating up and down.
