It's not throwing the code for the crankshaft since I put one in but now it won't start

I tested my spark plugs with the little tester you out on the coil and then connect to the spark plug wires. As I'm saying that I think I may have done it wrong. Should I have put that tester on the spark plugs not the ignition coil? I checked all my injectors with a multimeter and they were all good.
There is no MAF sensor listed for the 96 trucks at all, in the service manual.. It is a speed density system, MAP sensor. There is no MAF.

You are 100% correct. I was given the wrong information. And sold a part that my truck does not even have. So should I have put the tester on the spark plug instead of ignition coils

Location doesn't really matter. So long as you are getting spark, it's all good. But, if you ARE getting spark...... are you getting fuel pressure? Injector pulse? Are ALL of the coils firing? (one coil fires two cylinders, so, five coils to test.)

I got a wire tester and found a bad wire going to the crankshaft. I fixed that and she started!!. Now I'm curious to find out if the crankshaft and can sensor replacement is going to keep her engine from shutting down while I'm driving. Only time will tell.
