Default Now shaking when put into drive

I posted a question here the other day about a jerk when put in drive or reverse. Today is the first time it has ever done it. In neutral it runs and idle fine. When I put it in drive it started shaking. When I accelerate the shaking gets worse, but then when it change to 2nd gear it goes away. Now I stop at a red light and it continues to do the same thing. Now I accelerate it shakes again then it changes into 2nd gear then 3rd and the next time I stop the shaking is gone. I can't get it to do it again. So is it going to be a continuing problem or what could it have been? Thanks

Its a 98 dodge ram 1500 auto with 5.2 engine

Does it get MUCH worse at about 45, when it shifts into overdrive, and tcc engages?

I'm thinking slipping bands in the transmission. First & reverse are the same band.

Ooooo, could try a fluid/filter change, and band adjustment on the trans........ give an opportunity to see if there is anything untoward in there as well.

Sounds like the torque converter is staying engaged...not sure if that's possible on that model, but it happened to an old Cavalier my family had.

It hasn't done it at all today. So I don't know. Hope it stays that way.
