I just took the ball joint tool back to Advance a few minutes ago lol. I had to replace an upper ball joint. The tool was $170- so for now I'm inclined to rent one . It's not really that bad to do once you figure out the best way to use the tool. Mine didn't have any instructions so it took me a little bit. I also have a 2 1/2' breaker bar that came in quite handy. If you don't have anything that big I would recommend a cheater pipe.

Buy or rent the tool for sure. Beating the old ones out is one thing. But, you don't want to be beating on the new ones to install them.

So I guess you are going to try and install without the proper tool(s)?
