Default Aftermarket sound issue on '00 1500

Hey everybody, ok so Just bought my first dodge/truck a few days ago. Its a 2000 Ram 1500 sport 4x4 QC with the 5.9 and completly stock (for now! muhahaha).

Anyways, took the dash cover off and stock stereo out put in an Alpine. It turns on but I dont have any sound, I got it hooked up with a wireing harness from wallyworld. so I put the stock HU in and I get sound EXCEPT on the front left side, that speaker has always been touchy and cut in and out whenever it wanted to but the other 3 always still work (protection on the Alpine?). My question is this: is that one speaker the problem for the rest of them not comming on with the Alpine HU?

Thanks alot!

(got an Alpine Type-R and Alpine Amp got all the wires ran but nothing hooked up for troubleshooting purposes. One thing at a time ya know lol

sounds like a question for an Alpine forum, since the dodge part works great

good point, I'm leaning towards a protection from the newer HU due to that darn front driver speaker I'm gonna get some new ones and wires. Thanks.

stick around and keep us in the loop as you build your new toy. also, if you plan to be around, fill in your signature so we can know what you got. Good luck!

Do you have the upgraded sound system from the factory in there? If so, there are amps in the doors for the front speakers......

I'm not sure, I dont have any badges on the grills or the stock HU, tomorrow I'm gonna tear into the door panels. Just in case, I did some research and it looks like if I did have a factory amp I'd want to hook up the solid blue wire from the harness to the HU remote wire. In any case I tried it and got nothing. There is a fuse in the cab that says amp though.

Should say "Infinity" or some such if you have it.

oookay, so heres an update....No factory amp, put in 2 new 6x9's in the front doors (both from the factory were pretty much done for) And a new harness ONLY for a dodge truck. Put in factory radio sounds great! Put in Alpine HU still no sound....got my hands on another alpine deck for a test....everything powers on, NO FREAKIN SOUND!

I was able to talk to a prof. installer and he said if the factory HU works and aftermarket doesn't "I'd probably need a better/bigger ground". So for tomorrow on my lunch break I'm gonna add a bigger ground to the Alpine HU.

If that dosn't work my only choice is to bend over and let Best Buy have there way with me, I'v hooked up many stereos in many cars and NEVER had this kind of issue.....

@ witts end with fingers crossed
