Well then, tighten up the y pipe, and take it down the road, see how it does.

**** my life, lol

i cant see to tighten up the y pipe anymore, its outside in my back yard, not even in the driveway. thank you guys for all the help. seriously, thank you!

no chance i mis took the post, theres a 1 printed on the cap and when cyl #1 was at tdc the rotor was pointed almost directly pointed at the pass fender so its off.

next question, do i need to move the distributor or can i just leave it as is? ideally i dont wanna dick with it if i dont have to. it seemed to fire right up...

I second this notion. If you don't have the bucks right now, it is definitely something I would start setting aside money for.

eventually yes, i do plan to do timing chain and water pump, but ive been out of work for almost a year and barely scraping by. i just found a job last week and need to be able to drive there when i cant ride my bike so for right now i just need wheels. i am interested to see whats really going on, but it will have to wait until funds can rebuild a little.

Glad you found the problem, and congrats on getting work. I'd take it easy on it until you can change the timing set, and I would replace with double roller chain and gears.
