Default 98 ram transmission problem

Ok, this is my first post "waves". I'm having problems with my 1998 ram 1500 5.9 4x4 auto. My check engine light is on and took it to auto zone and gave me the code p0757 i think, or p0756, gonna have to take it back and make sure but either way its a transmission error, that I know. What the truck does is when I put it in drive, it seems like it starts in 3rd. put it in 2nd and starts in 2nd, put it in 1st and starts in 2nd. Basiclly I have no 1st gear. I been looking around and seen that replacing the 2 pressure solenoids could maybe fix the problem. I wanna see what some of you think before i go spend some money I really dont have...any ideas and i would be thankful..

Welcome to DF.
First off, try changing the fluid, filter and adjusting the bands.
Use only ATF+4.
Second, download the 2001 Factory Service manual.
Has everything in it.

Need to know the correct codes.... I don't think those are it. (as our trannies don't have shift solenoid a or b.)

Your trans is in limp mode for whatever reason. Governor pressure solenoids are notorious for gunking up, and that, surprisingly enough, not working right......

Find out what the codes are, and post 'em up.

Welcome to DF!

You can spend the money and replace those solenoids and hope for the best, or just get the tranny rebuilt.

You can get them from the dealer, or, see if you can find someplace that can get you the better design borg warner units. The solenoid looks to run less than 60 bucks, sensor should be cheaper.
