Without knowing the back spacing. I'd say you are on the right tack in getting some help from the wife, to see if and where they are rubbing.

Upon further review. 1500's do come with 16x7's and have 5" backspacing along with a a D44 front axle. 2500's have 16x8's and a D60. And depending on what wheel used(steel or alum.) up to 6.25 backspacing. Here is some info that nay be helpful. But you still need to see whats rubbing.
