Just received my timing set with tensioner from Mopar Performance yesterday. Hope to install this weekend.

Even got Mopar Performance decals - those should boost mpg by 5% or so, huh?

And in case someone may be wondering what double roller chain is, here is a photo:

Getting ready to do my timing chain (I also got Comp #2103 from amazon) and I'm wondering, is it really recommended to put a tensioner on. Aren't the timing chains switched out every 100k-150k? If a tensioner was installed, how much longer could you run a timing chain?

Tensioner won't make it last any longer. what it will do though, is dampen a bit of the bounciness in your ignition timing...... it also allows you to run a sloppy chain longer, with less danger of jumping teeth......

I didn't install one when I did my timing set. It's nice to have, but, I don't really believe its a requirement.

I think your confusing valve timing and ignition timing.

Gotta take the fan and shroud at the same time, doing fan/shroud/water pump might be tricky. Try and unscrew the fan, if it want's to be difficult, screw it, leave it on the pump.

Dont forget the two bolts coming up from the bottom that hold the timing cover to the oil pan. Also, be careful when removing it you don't tear that gasket.

Line up the marks on the crank/cam gears BEFORE you take any bolts off.
