hey hes 17 hes still learning. a locker doesnt do anything if you have selectable hubs and you leave them unlocked, and an open diff with selectable hubs locked is still an open diff

Im new to this forum, i just bought a 98 1500 and im having some problems with the four wheel drive, when i put the front end in gear and then take it out it still acts like is in gear, the light will go out and it will still sound and turn like it is in gear but the transfer case is not in gear, is this the vacuum system that locks the front axle? i have no clue how that system works.... can somebody help me?

There is a thread about the CAD somewhere here...think it is in FAQ/DIY section. It gives a good breakdown on how this operates.
