Default Reverse lights

My reverse lights haven't worked for quite a while now (since tranny rebuild a couple years ago). However, last night I noticed they were back on. Today they are off again. Any ideas as to what caused this and how I could fix them so they work properly again? Thanks

Check the neutral safety switch on the trans. Right by the shift linkage.

You might also check all the ground wires. Is is just the reverse lights that work when they want to?

Yes it's just the reverse lights. But I hadn't notice them come on for a long time (2 years) until last night.

If what HeyYou said to do doesn't work you might get the Factory Service Manual (https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...e-manuals.html) and track down any/all ground wires for the reverse lights, could be something touching somewhere that may have shifted enough for the lights to work sporadically.

Also, jiggle/move the shifter when in reverse and see if they work.
