Default Installing KATs circulating coolant heater

Gents,

I will be installing my KATs today. I was looking at where I can mount the darn thing, and it seems I can only mount it on the diagonal rail that is between the bumper and wheel well (in order to have it at the correct height).

Now, can I just use a bunch of mechanics wire to get it in place? Because I can't mount the mounting bracket to that piece of metal.

Any tips?

how about this? Its on the core support. It takes the coolant out of the block drain and sends it to the heater core hose.

I Googled this topic, and came up with mostly people having the same problem as far as how and where to mount it(because of it's size). Of course , none of them posted a pic of what they did. Also, most replies they got from people where to use the magnetic one for the oil pan or a dipstick heater. Because it's the oil you want warm for starting issue's. There was even a couple from DF in 2008. But anyway, I'd use some heavy duty tie wraps and put rubber or some kind of padding between the heater and whatever you mount it to.

I just used a good wrench and it came out. But I did spray it with blaster for a month before I tried to take it out. What block heated did you buy? Have you decided where you are going to mount it?

They suck for sure. Got a torch? Heat it up. Vise grips is most likely what will work.

That was the difference in opinions from what I read. If cold start was the issue, that's one thing. But if you want it warmer quicker, that was the other. However, I saw a lot of guys complaining about the cost of electric for that convenience.

I finished it a few hours ago. Then it was my turn to make dinner. Grouper with a tomato caper sauce and Spaghetti.

I will get some pics posted. I got the 1500 watt model KATs. I have heard great things about zerostart.

Give me 10 mins and I will get pics.
