Largest Tire on Stock Truck
Hello, i wanted to know if anyone had any knowledge of whats the largest tire size that could be run on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 w/ the factory OFF-ROAD Pkg. and a 2" spring spacer level kit. I am currently running 315/70/17 Mickey Thompson MTZ's on the factory 17'' rims, they havent rubbed any part of wheel opening but do make contact with the control arms, at full turn. I am curious to see if i can run 37's with the current set up?or buy after market rims to help with spacing?
any help would be great. and if anyone has pics that would be great also.

You have basically four inches of lift over a stock truck. The suggested amount for 35's is five inches...... You could have a look at how much clearance you have with your current tires, and probably take a stab at how much larger you can go, but, don't forget to take into account the different backspacing, if you get different wheels.
Also, I wouldn't reduce backspacing too much.... maybe an inch, and even at that, you are going to be beating up on the hub/bearing units on the front axle.....

I tried to measure buy my current tires are pretty badly worn down, so its had to tell. I've seen a couple pics of guys with same year but 2500's and running 37's with no lift. I think that the off-road and the 2500 are about the same size, but not sure. Oh and just to clear it up, backspacing is what moves the tire out past the body, right?
