Kegger stuff
On my truck, I cut the runners flush with the main interior body of the inside of the plenum. (took off 1.5 to 2 inches... maybe) What it does is move your power band up a bit. You might lose a little down low, but, you gain some up top. Since my plenum was SERIOUSLY blown when I did my intake, I don't know if I actually lost any bottom end or not. The truck runs and drives REALLY well. Seems I have a couple more issues to sort, but, a year later, I still like the way the truck drives now.
Timing chain and gears made the biggest difference for me.

That is what I did. Got it for $25 at JY. It also allowed me the opportunity to do some light benchwork in between other tasks.

I cut off a good 1 1/2" off of mine.
I just did my kegger mod and I couldn't tell if there is any bottom loss. I also completely resealed a 98 5.9 motor with low miles and added some shorty headers. Going from a 2 quart a week oil burning motor to this was incredible. I have 315/75/16 ProComp Xtreme AT's and a Lockrite locker in the rear and can light up both tires anytime I desire lol.

This may be a bit off topic but since you are talking about plenums here thought Id ask. Got a 99 Ram and I live in Texas. I lose about a quart every 3-4000 miles other than that she runs like a top. Could my plenum be the cause of that oil loss?
