That's actually heartening to hear. 
I may be looking for another motor here soon as well..... I still use too much oil.
Take off the throttle body, and use a BRIGHT flashlight, and something like a dental mirror, and look in the back corners of the plenum itself. If you see oil pooling there, plenum is blown.
Check out the Plenum thread stickied at the top of the forums here, LOTS of good information there.

I just did my kegger mod and I couldn't tell if there is any bottom loss. I also completely resealed a 98 5.9 motor with low miles and added some shorty headers. Going from a 2 quart a week oil burning motor to this was incredible. I have 315/75/16 ProComp Xtreme AT's and a Lockrite locker in the rear and can light up both tires anytime I desire lol.
I bet those headers didn't hurt either, still got the stock y-pipe? I hear thats where the difference is.
Also, go 3.55s lol
