This may be a bit off topic but since you are talking about plenums here thought Id ask. Got a 99 Ram and I live in Texas. I lose about a quart every 3-4000 miles other than that she runs like a top. Could my plenum be the cause of that oil loss?
Possibly. Have a look inside, and see what you find.
That's actually heartening to hear. I may be looking for another motor here soon as well..... I still use too much oil.

Take off the throttle body, and use a BRIGHT flashlight, and something like a dental mirror, and look in the back corners of the plenum itself. If you see oil pooling there, plenum is blown.
Check out the Plenum thread stickied at the top of the forums here, LOTS of good information there.
I attempted a burnout on dry pavement recently with 315/70/16's and smoked my clutch. Oh well, i deserve it, i bought a parts store clutch cuz i needed it then.
I just did my kegger mod and I couldn't tell if there is any bottom loss. I also completely resealed a 98 5.9 motor with low miles and added some shorty headers. Going from a 2 quart a week oil burning motor to this was incredible. I have 315/75/16 ProComp Xtreme AT's and a Lockrite locker in the rear and can light up both tires anytime I desire lol.
When you did you're mod how much of the runners did you cut off? Is there a noticeable difference in mid range?
I bet those headers didn't hurt either, still got the stock y-pipe? I hear thats where the difference is.
