Default Basic O2 Question

Hey everyone, sorry for such a simple question, but I was going to replace the o2 sensor today and just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to accidentally do something catastrophically wrong. I searched for this topic but couldn't quite find the answer I was looking for.

It appears that you just unscrew the old and screw in the new, at the same time just unplugging and plugging in the new one... is it this easy?

Second, I heard I should reset the PCM? Is this a good idea, and if so, how do you do that?

Thanks again from Wyo

Well, I don't know if I would classify it as "easy".... consider it IS exhaust work.... and the O2 sensors can sometimes be a real bear to get out, but, aside from that, yep. It really is just that easy.

Get a Denso, or NTK O2 sensor, stay away from the Bosch units. They don't work so good.

To reset the PCM, just disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Yes, you DO want to do that, so the computer can re-learn to run the engine, with the new sensors. It's important to do so.

Yes to your first question It may be pretty tight.

Also, before you remove it, disconnect battery. When you get O2 sensor back in and connected, then connect battery back. This will reset PCM.

There is a lock tab you have to lift up a bit, and then pull the connectors apart. And yes, they REALLY put that in an awkward position.
