Hotter air retards the timing and gets better gas mileage, after all, mileage was a huge concern with the development of these trucks
Thats definitely what they were doing

Found this on ebay, isn't this defeating the purpose of a kegger mod? (better air flow) idk, never seen this before.

That's what is known as a "turtle".... Why folks would do that is beyond me. I saw a dyno chart comparison to variously modded keggers, and the difference were non-existent..... at least, above 2500 RPM where the chart started. Cutting the runners down gave a bit more up top, but, the various 'fill' methods did little or nothing.

Match a Turtle with a throttle body space, add some acetone to the tank, install an HHO converter, and you'll have a screamer of a truck!

I have settled on leaving the divider in place. I'll cut the runners down about 1 1/2" and see how that feels. If I want to, I can take the divider out down the road. That "turtle" plenum looks sketchy at best.

This may sound stupid but why move the power curve to the upper end in a pretty dominate 4X4 thread when most would rather keep our torque in the lower range when 4wheeling?

It doesn't move it very far, more opens up the mid-top end some more. I really didn't care for how little clearance there was between the runner openings, and the plenum plate.... After the repair, the truck ran MUCH better below 3K RPM..... I don't know if that was because of the mod, or, because of the elimination of a horrendous vacuum leak....

Like to see this Dyno graph of the various kegger mods and the source it came from.

It was on hughes site, however, that article seems to have gone MIA. It was linked from their various modded keggers......
