No pinging here. I changed my intake so I don't have a plenum plate anymore. Usually that's the cause.

If your plenum is bad then chances are your cat and pre cat o2 are both shot as well. Fix the plenum, cat and o2 sensor and you might notice a big difference.

Need to make sure your plenum is good. Pull the TB, and have a look around. Sounds like you may have the beginnings of a problem there at least.

Unless you do something about the pre-cat Y, nothing else you do on the exhaust is going to make much difference. That spot is THEY biggest restriction in the entire system. If your engine cant breath, you won't get good gains from any mod.

It will run better with a new set of plugs , I put in the autolight 3923 and ping stopped . You may have to run a couple tanks of 93 to make sure the lower obtain gets used . Make sure you air filter is clean also , if its real dirty less air will cause ping

you probably didn't notive a lot of power gain becasue of the fact you have a 96and it was not tuned down from the factory. torque curve is just prety much raw power being delivered.

Its got new plugs and cap and rotor and a K&N air filter and is running on 93 octane. Plenum is definately the next thing on the list right now. Just to clarify I DO notice a difference just not as much as expected but that is likely due to my plenum, cat, o2, y pipe.

Yea, I mean, you have to realize your not slapping on a supercharger. Your not gonna see an 80 h.p. improvement lol. Your simply improving stock components to their max potential. And that, will increase with more supporting mods. But for those of us with the flash, its a night and day difference in power...
