I have not really noticed it going down much, i topped it off though. The brake pedal just got really mushy on my way home friday. Anything else I should check before I go blow $80 on a MC?

Could try bleeding the brakes..... but, if the fluid level didn't get to low, you may be buying into MORE trouble that way. (broken bleeders are a pain.) I would be real tempted to touch every single part of the brake system, and visually verify no leaks before blowing the money on the M/C. That would entail pulling the wheels and drums, and checking the wheel cylinders as well.

Alright are the front or rear cyclinders more prone to failing? Should I just check them all?

Calipers in front, and I have had them seize, but, I have never seen one start leaking. Wheel cylinders may weep a bit, so, fluid loss is minimal, but, profound affect on brake pedal..... Brake lines like to rust out too.......

If everything else looks good, M/C is all thats left. Check and see if you see any fluid running down from the brake booster. If you see it wet back where the m/c bolts to the booster, chances are good the m/c is toast. They are actually really easy to replace, and if you hold your face right, you don't even have to bleed the brakes.

Turns out it was the master cylinder, I replaced it and the problem went away and I am good as new now. Minus the fact that I am going to have to do the drum brakes soon. Any advice?

Do one side at a time. So if something get's screwed up, you can use the other side for reference.

Appreciate it, do I need any specialty tools at all or should I be good without them?

A pair of brake spring pliers makes the job easier, and less hazardous to your knuckles.
