damn had to drill bumper
this sucks, i had to drill my crome bumper to put on the License plate since theres only 2 holes on the bottom and none on the top. I hated to do it but it looked like crap and i was sick of hearing it rattle.
I did the same thing to mine in lieu of spending $25 for a tag holder from the dealer. Drilled and tapped the holes, works good, looks better than either having the top of the tag flopping or hanging down below.
You know, there is a bracket that is suppposed to be used when you have a front license plate. Then you don't have to drill your bumper. I had one in my 01 ram, and my 05 ram.... never used because we don't have front plates.
Here's a tip... (my own idea). Get a pair of door hinges from Home Depot. Mount the plate to an aluminum plate of the same size (for strength) and add a plate frame. Mount the plate assy to the door hinges and then mount the hinges to the underside of the truck... around the rad pan shielding.
The tag should be able to swing backward when you hit somethin'. You can't see it... but there is a front tag on my R/T... mounted in this manner and tied back (cause it'll hit the ground otherwise) 'Had it this way for near 4 1/2 years.

Why bother installing it? In WA the law states it must be mounted vertically between X and Y inches from the ground, so you're no better off having it on hinges.
Not that it really matters, in my 5.0 the front plate has been securely wedged between the passenger seat and center console for the past 2 years.
