Oh sorry, i missed the 2wd thing, on 4x4 its a little different, and i guess ill clarify "a buncha stuff" as shock tower, sway bar, and track bar, at least thats what worked for me
I would (and have) just remove the sway bar for good. It noticeably improved ride and doesn't make any noticeable difference in body roll or brake dive.
You don't need to remove the shock, just take the nut off the top.
If you use your truck for hauling heavy stuff you might want to shelf that sway bar just in case. Big loads with no sway bar at highway speeds can be a real white knuckler, especially in the corners.
Just to clarify - on 4x4's removing the front coil spring is relatively easy, and does not require a compressor at all. I replaced my stock coil spring with a 2" lifted spring, then again later with a 3" spring. the only thing I disconnected was the shock tower and the sway bar links. That's it. It is very safe - i'd say safer then using a spring compressor which in my opinion are not safe.
