Default Bearing in Power steering is toast (I think)

Recently noticing this ticking sound coming from the Power steering pump pulley. It actually sounds alot like engine tick, but im 100% sure its the pulley. if I hit it with a little WD-40 it gets noticeably quieter for a while, but always comes back.

Question is, would changing the pulley itself remedy this? or is the bearing inside the pump assembly? Meaning id need a whole new assembly?

Thanks.

EDIT: Wow, sorry for the horrible spelling in the title, stupid phone auto correct.

Check and see if there isn't just some dirt in the pulleys grooves first.

I'd say replace the pump. Just replacing the pulley won't help. The bearing is still in the pump.

Hmm, I wonder why you can't change the thread title. Maybe HeyYou can? I don't know.

Power steering pump is not expensive. Just be careful pullling pulley off and don't beat it onto the new pump. Most auto supply stores like AZ and Orelieys have a puller in their loaner tool program. If not, use a bolt to thread into pump shaft with a couple of washers and a nut. Use the nut to set the pulley on the shaft. The pump won't take much abuse.

Most pumps come with a bolt and nut of some sort to get the old pulley off. However, I have the tools, but in your case, I wouldn't leave the parts store without the pulley being swapped.

Mine did not have a nut. Press fit only. May be a difference in year models though.
