Suspension lift vs. body lift
i have a 2001 ram off road with 2" level kit, if i buy this suspension kit how much lift will i actually get? my thinking is when i take off the spacers and and remove all the factory offroad stuff, then add this kits im only gonna go up like 1or 2"s or so, in that case i might as well just do a body lift for a fraction of the price. http://fatbobsgarage.com/i-6785605-d...2000-2001.html

It all depends on what u want to do with ur truck. If u plan to do anything off road, dont spend ur money on any kit with lift blocks! If ur a pavement pounder and only use the truck for towing, street, and bigger tires, go with the body lift. As for the overall lift minus ur off road package, u should only gain about 2.5-3.0 inches with that particular kit. Someone correct me if Im wrong but I believe u already have 2 inches more to start with than the rest of us
thanks checked it out. but even if i get that lift wont i only go up like 2'' higher than i am now? assuming that all the factory lift stuff has to come off (which i been told equates to about a 4'' lift with my level kit)?
The off road trucks are two inches taller than their regular counterparts. So, yeah, a six inch lift isn't going to get you much more than what you already have. (2 inches.... more or less)
What size tires do you want to stuff under there?

debating between staying with my 35's or going to 37's. i posted a question earlier about going to 37's and got a lot of neg. side effects so prolly stay with my 35's.
either way i think the most cost effective thing is a body lift, ive just never liked body lifts but now that i have to pay for it, and since i dont do any serious trail rides, i think body lift would be ok.
funny thing is i was thinking about actually going down in size to a 33

If you go down to 33's, don't add any more lift. In all reality, if you don't off road much, you could prolly stick with the 35's, and not worry about any more lift. Put the money toward gears instead.

With 35s you wouldn't need more that 4.56, the 4.10s those models come with should be ok. When I had the 4.56's put in mine it made a big difference (I had the 3.55s). It does not kick out of over drive going up inclines anymore. I would replace the gears only if you are having problems. You should have the trac-loc in there already. A great upgrade to that diff which requires only basic tools and no tear down would be the powertrax no-slip. That is one of the greatest upgrades you can do. It complements both the off road and the pavement. just my opinion
