2x6 board on the floor jack and put it right on the bottom of the u-bolts in the rear (the board is so I don't hose the threads on the u-bolts).
If I need to put the rear on jack stands I put the jack directly on the shock mounts and don't worry about a board. Then I put the stands in between the u-bolts.
4x4 or 2x6 board on the jack and put it right on the end of the lower control arm for the the front.

To clear things up I meant that I have a 4WD truck. For the rear, is it SAFE to use the shock mounts? I know I have hear about jacking over the u-bolts but I was gonna use the shock mounts. And in the front I really don't know where to put the jack because unless you jack on teh frame idk of anywhere thats safe. I like workin on my 2wd ford better lol

For the rear I put the jack to the inside of the u bolts and jack on the axle tube then put the jack stand under the u bolts. Just use the axle tube for you jack spots. This is not hard. See post #9

If you use a floor jack put the wood on top of the jacking pad(not my fav for jacking up a lifted truck), for a bottle jack put the wood under it(perfered).

Not the best pic but it will give you an idea on the front.

Nope, I had been driving the truck without that axle in and just a rag stuffed in the hole and it did leak. I changed the seals about 4 years ago when I put in the DL. It's drip free You just want me to work on it some more right.

Bottom of pumpkin, then put stands on axle close to wheels. Stands have a half moon shape perfect for the axle tube..

If the working on it is stuff you want to do, ie; improvements, modifications, etc.. then it's ok to be in withdrawal. If working on it means replacing and fixing everything that breaks, withdrawal might be a concern
