I didnt see it mentioned, You were checking your fluid level with the tranny in neutral and the engine running right?

Yes.

I don't have 1200 bucks for someone to replace a seal or a pump. So this means I must do it myself :/

Drop the pan first, have a look at what's in there..... If there are metal filings in there, you are prolly gonna need a rebuild soon.... Not to mention that the more fluid you get out before you drop the trans, the less that is in there to pour out on you when you DO drop it.

I dropped the pan not too long ago and there were some metal shavings around the magnet, but not a lot.

May be time to look again...... Either way, the trans is gonna have to come out to see which seal died...... that should be fun.....

IF the tranny was overfilled, the fluid on the bottom of bell housing would be normal. There is a vent hole in the pump to relieve overfill. But if it is overheating, frictions are taking a beating. Do you have any way to measure tranny temp? Know anyone with a Snap On scanner?

I'm gonna ask around and see if anyone has one I can borrow. I unplugged the trans lines with the vehicle warm and I had lots of pressure, so I opted to drive it around and see if it was still leaking. I drove it about 20 mins and parked it all night with a pan underneath it, come back in the morning and only one drip was there. Kinda strange?

Wonder if it overheated, or was just a bit over-full....

alright so this is interesting...it is only leaking when the vehicle is cold. once it warms up, no leaking. does that point to the TC seal or pump?

No clue. Could be either, or both.... If it is relatively easy to keep up with, I would nurse it till warmer weather came along, or, it started doing something even more undesirable. (odd noises, worse leak, or just quits working altogether.)
