No clue. Could be either, or both.... If it is relatively easy to keep up with, I would nurse it till warmer weather came along, or, it started doing something even more undesirable. (odd noises, worse leak, or just quits working altogether.)
I'm crossing my fingers that I can as well. Once warmer weather comes around, I can ride my motorcycle everywhere and then yank my tranny out and service it. I've seen other posts talking about taking the inspection plate off to take a look. Would it help me in this case? I saw where you stated that its not real easy and may not even be worthwhile...
The inspection plate is at the front of the torque converter, taking it off gives you a nice view of the back of the flex-plate. (or, in moparspeak: Drive Plate.) I don't think you would be able to see anything at all from the angle it would give you......
