Default Needing Tranny ID help.

I bought my truck 5 days ago, or traded rather.. its a 2000 Ram 1500 5.9l 4x4. 1/2 ton, not likely. This truck has been rebuild to the standards (Or tried to) of a 3/4 ton. Springs, all.. Anyway, The tranny also, was rebuilt. My problem is, the truck had issues shifting.. It went from park, to 1-2 and stayed in two, unless I completely took my foot off the gas, and let it coast down a little, and then it shifted fine. When I came to a stop, it went to 2nd, no 1st. I had to manually shift it down. I went and ordered a new Solenoid, and decided to drop the pan, change the filter, fluid, solenoid, and clean the governor. (No burnt fluids, minimal clutch shavings, and NO ENGINE CODES.) Yeah right. I got everything out, and NOTHING fit. The filter did, but the gasket, solenoid, and the amount of fluid was wrong.. (Fluid may have been the parts guys fault.) Anyway, I got it put back together without a new solenoid, and filled it up, and now its in straight up limp mode. 1st, 2nd, park, Neutral, and reverse work better than before, but after second I get neutral.. I can manually shift back into second and.. limp... home. The parts for the 1500 DO NOT FIT this tranny.. I need to replace these solenoids and what not, but I have no idea what to order.? Is there a way I can find out what Transmission is up in this thing?! Thanks!

Get your parts for a '00 Ram 46re. 1500 2500 really doesn't matter.
Here's a great place to get parts wittrans.com

There wasn't any differences in auto transmissions by weight rating of the truck, there WERE, however, differences by year. Mostly in electrical connectors, but, also the governor plate? and solenoid/sensor. To figger out what you actually have there, have a look at This Thread. Specifically, post number 3.

Thanks for the response. The solenoid wiring would not fit, wrong plugs and lenght.. Also, the gasket for the transmission pan was WAY wrong.. Im now assuming the parts store messed up here somewhere..? I did find out my transmission is a 46RE.. so somewhere the guys had to either look up the wrong year or something.. >.< Now Im just hoping replacing these parts will cure this.. But Honestly, Im not sure! Thanks for the help!

Well, the Gov. Solenoids are the same 93-on. So I don't know how that can be wrong. The Gov. pressure switches and lock up / OD assembly solenoids are what's different.

Yes, but not the plug for the Gov. Solenoid.

Sorry, That is what I ment... the lock up/od sensors harness.. (Never touched the inside of a tranny, so I am still getting confused between the terms..) I do have one question.. We got the parts coming tomorrow (The right ones) I took the pan off, got the lockup/od sensors loose, and the governor solenoid. How in the world to I get to the other end of the harness for these? It goes up over the Valve Body, so i am assuming it must come down. Not by the main bolts, but by the Torx Screws, right? and also there is something holding the valve body up on the drive side.. Something like a throttle.. (Once again, never done this before =\) How is that removed? Thanks.!

Ok. I read one place to remove the valve body by the Torx screws, or it will fall apart.. then another says ONLY remove the hex bolts, or it will fall apart...... ~_~
