The only reason I would say you need a isolator is because If you are running things like out camping or offroading you could run both batts dead and be up a creek.

i dont plan on running anything else on my truck, or out camping. only thing that the truck will need to run is my camper while im towing it to keep the fridge on. other than that as soon as the camper is unhooked its plugged into a receptical at the campground.

it would probably be a lot easier to just get a bigger alt.

heres what i have to say about the dual batteries and why i went this route.

my stock battery 770 cca's does what it needs to do for everyday use, but im getting 2 850cca batteries which equals out to 1700 cca's and 2000 ca's that will be more than enough power for my plow. im pretty sure that i have the 136a alternator so a larger alt is not needed. when using a plow it is raised and angled at idle so everything dims a ton.

with going dual batteries the plow will work much faster than it currently does and i will be able to get more life out of the pump motor.

Thats mostly why I have dual batteries just because I wanted them not because I needed them.

I want to mount a winch in my bumper but don't know how often I would use it. I just don't want to spend the money on a winch then never use it.
