electrical power inverter?
im not sure where to put this so im placing it under the type of truck i drive.
I plan to install a 5000-8000W power inverter for a 110V 40A air compressor i recently acquired. currently things are stock in my engine but i wounder what the best way to provide power to this would be? a second battery? what type of battery, deep cycle vs standard optima? will a second alternator be required?
i intend to upgrade to a 2500 at some point so perhaps i will chance upon the model with dual batteries.
the inverter would pull around 400A at 12V when the compressor is running.
any ideas, thoughts, concerns?

im looking into possibly rewiring the 110 to 220 but im not sure if its possible with this model. its built in 1967 but i got it for 15 bucks, its 25 gal and dual piston, maxes at 200psi. i had to run it at work as no outlet in our house can power it. that said a 5K power inverter is only a couple hundred where as a new compressor is more around 1700. im looking into perhaps taking an old lawn mower and rigging it to the compressor in place of the current motor. im just bouncing ideas around but the inverter would give me the most in dual purpose. i have a small 2KW inverter in the truck now but it cant run alot of what i would like.
my stereo pulls 416A at max load, however its rarely ever pulling that much, id guess it pulls around 200A average while im driving.
as opposed to buying a generator what would it take to rig up a pump on the serpentine belt of the engine? im on a budget so my goal is to make this all work for under 400 bucks max but im shooting for no more than 100. I built a 3KW power inverter out of old microwaves but it was unable to run the compressor and its currently a bit larger than i want.

yea, i was thinking of using a second deep cycle battery with an isolator, my current red top, and my stock alternator. the air compressor would come on once ever 30-45 min under basic usage and perhaps once every 10-15 min when im doing auto work. i heard a rumor that some old GM air conditioning pumps can be easily turned into a compressor, i may take a look into that.

You'd require the king of all alternators to be able to power the electronics capable to run the compressor full tilt at 100% duty cycle unless you plan to draw off the battery which gets expensive quick. Inverting from 12V seems like an extremely expensive way to go for this kind of power level. In the end I highly doubt you'll be able to justify the cost once you realize what it's really going to take electrically.
If you have one of those PTO transmissions on there you could use one of those PTO driven generators and power a whole truckload of compressors. You could potentially even somehow chassis mount the generator and have some conveniently located outlets I would imagine.
