Default Wiring Help (radio, dome lights)

Well I finally decided to figure out why my radio wont work. The dash is all apart now. I've traced the problem to NO CONSTANT POWER feed on the pink wire on the radio. If I back feed the power from the switched pin, the radio and dome lights come on.

Looking at the factory wiring diagrams, I have traced the power on the other side to fuse 17, which has 12V coming in, and going out IE the fuse is good. Somewhere between that fuse and the radio connector is "joint connector B" and C231? I assume C231 is a connector somewhere.

If anyone can assist in helping me find Joing connector B, or the C231 that would be awesome.

Im not sure what you got going on but replace the IOD fuse and that should correct your problem. Bottom left on the older models not sure on the newer models but it should be fuse 12 IIRC

Try replacing the door jamb switches.

Ok, more digging, looks like when the service manual says c231 is NEAR the back of the fuse panel, they mean PLUGGED INTO the back of the fuse panel. That does not appear to be my problem. I also think c231 and joint connector B are one and the same location. So, i'm stumped now.

I'll check the IOD, is that in the PDC or the fuse block?

OK, completly stumpped as to WHY replacing the IOD fuse fixed the problem.

I checked all the regular fuses, but that one looked special and I didnt pull it. Instead I pulled the dash, I feel like an idiot.

A little more info on this. I jumped to looking for a bad connection because the problem had been intermittent, the radio worked some times, some times it didnt. The Ignition switch did not turn off the radio and it drained the battery.

I think I still have a problem that caused the blown IOD fuse in the first place.

Its a special little fuse isnt it, loose connections on the radio can cause it to blow, theres a couple different things connected to the IOD fuse so it could take a while to find the source

I read this post this morning and had the exact same problems. The IOD fuse was the only fuse I didn't check on the truck and it turned out to be blown haha. I must have crossed some wires when I did my engine swap over a month ago. I had no radio for over a month and didn't know why.

I've seen one or both door jamb switches cause this problem. Just sayin' There like $3 each. Can't hurt to try.

I'll have to dig in to the manual some more, but as I see it the IOD is not in line with the radio power source so thats why I didnt check it until it was suggested. Also the door switches on my truck certainly are suspect due to the rust all over. Will evaluate them in the near future.

P.S. what does IOD stand for?
