Hack off the pipe behind the cat, pull the front O2 sensor, smash up the stuff inside the cat with an appropriate object, then rev the engine a couple times to blow all the crap out. Weld the pipe back together. Reinstall the O2 sensor.

I am sure you have been asked before....but I go through emissions how would that effect that they have never done a sniff test even on my 89 nissan they. Just use a mirror to make sure its there
The stock muffler is HUGE. I don't think the cat would matter with that in place. On mine, I have the huge feller, and a gutted cat, nice and quiet. Almost too quiet.....

I ask cause I have my muffler off now "huge sucker" I like it now but if it gets louder the wife would murder me in my sleep ;p
