Doing the water pump/timing cover/timing set really isn't that bad of a job. Gotta be able to buy the parts though...... I think it took me about two hours start to finish.

Sorry , I screwed that up, You ARE in the Tech section. That's why I asked/suggested you make better thread titles.

And Blue, you don't have to start basically a duplicate thread. And naming thread helps get members attention based on their interest and expereience.

Not to mention helping others find pertinent threads when they have similar problems.

very true i did it because the other thread kinda got away from the topic and i didnt really know what to name the thread because i had no idea where it was all coming from... after talking to you guys and alot of research did i determine it was the timing chain gasket.. thanks for all the help... im doing the work this 4 day weekend going to start friday i will keep you guys posted and take lots of photos...
question bout timing chain... i wanna get something after market i can kinda bet that my chain is wore out so since im in there going to replace it... can i do just the chain or do i have to do the sprockets they go on. also its too late to order on line is napa or car quest ok? and what is something i should look for in a GOOD CHAIN and whats something i should stay away from when purchasing a new chain... Thanks Again

Perhaps a moderator could change the title? Just a thought.

Mine had about the same number of miles, and 1/2" slack in chain. Yes, replace chain and bothe sprockets. Get a double roller timeing chain as it is better than the morse chain it came with. I also installed chain tesnioner, but some do not think it is critical.

There are several thrads on changin chain and sprockets. Main thing is to NOT let cam or crankshoft rotate as you pull chain and sprockets off. If eitehr one moves, you will have more work to get everything lined back up. I lined up timing marks after pulling cover before I removed chain. (bolt in crankshaft with long breaker bar)
