i couldnt believe i had to go through all that **** for some cheap *** gasket!
i got it all wrapped up today pulled the fan clutch from the old water pump with an adjustable wrench from work than put it on the new water pump reconnected the battery and put in some 50/50. the truck stalled out on me five minutes later than it started to over heat and died out again with a flash of CEL. than it started to make a **** load of rumbling noise sounded like **** than it died out again steering wheel locked up before it stalled again than the oil gauge started saying low pressure i was like what the **** did i do... well check the radiater and he was THIRSTY!!! i didnt put enough coolant in so i added some water for now about 3 2liter bottles worth of water. than all the noise stopped and the gauge stopped and it stopped stalling. Hope it was just the issue of not having enough liquid. however i did notice that theres a puddle by the thermostat housing ****ing BITCH! i think its the gasket though i dont think the gasket that came with the kit fit right. oh the truck whent from keeping a temp of 250 to about 140 after i filled it somemore. someone told me the rumbling noise was just the heater core having fluid cycled through the CEL isnt on either it was just a flash... let that be a lesson to someone PUT PLENTY OF FLUID BACK IN!!!

Blue, make sure you put front of truck higher that the back, and let run for a while. It is referred to as burping the engine to get all of the air out. It takes some doing to get it all out.

Wait you drove it right after you put it back together ? You should have turned it on, let it sit and watch it for leaks fill it up as needed and watch the temperature. Thats what i did i let mine sit for like 20 minutes before i even thought about driving it. No way i would have drove it after all that work without watching it.. Let alone let it get to 250f.. Your lucky you didnt cause other problems by letting it get that hot.

Did you just fill the radiator up without burping it or something ? Because you do know when you take the water pump and stuff off your draining most of the coolant from the block also. The radiator is only half the liquid.

You should squeez all the hoses especially the upper radiator hose while your filling it up to get the coolant into the engine next time. I bet your kicking yourself in the nuts now huh ? Btw your gasket is exactly how mine blew. I think my picture is like 5 pages back but the corner had been eatin all up like yours. You chain doesnt have that much slack in it, thats about how much mine had.

I know the radiator holds half4 the water I had to drain the system and I whent back to the gasket myself so I knnow hows much Still came out when I removed water pump and other parts not really kicken myself cuz it didnt cause damage and the fact I did it myself is better than alot of others. Besides ub cant be a veteran without learning from rookie mistakes
