Default Gah! One thing after another.

Well recently I made a thread about my truck stalling. I cleaned my IAC.. worked for a day.
This morning I tried starting my vehicle.. surprise.

First it wouldn't even crank. You heard a "Buuzzzzzzzzzz" when I tried to turn the ignition.
Eventually it started to crank over, but it would just spudder out and shut off. I figured it was the IAC again, but later I kept hearing a another buzzing noise from my fuel pump. It's never made a noise before until now. So, It's not getting gas, that's why it kept stalling on me this whole time.

Does anyone know where I can get a cheap Electric Fuel Pump for a 97 dodge? All I see are 200 dollars!

You want quality, NOT cheap when it comes to the fuel pump.

And not to be a dick, but please think about your thread title when posting in the Tech section please. And Have a good T-Day

My moms bf said that the filter might be clogged or dirty and it's causing the fuel pump to not receive gas. Could I clean/replace the fuel filter in my tank before spending 200 dollars on a fuel pump?

Make sure you have a nice good-N-tight connection to the battery. A pisspoor connection will cause the same or similar symptoms. I would rule that out before digging into the fuel pump. Not cranking when you first hit the ignition is not a normal thing...dontcha know.

Poor connection or weak battery will also cause you to stall out unless you keep on the gas. Will have to keep on the gas pretty good to even get to start, let alone keep running.

Any corrosion around the terminals, I'd remove, clean, reconnect and cover in p-jelly.

Sorry to say, but the fuel filter is part of the pump itself. And I doubt that's the problem anyway.

What would you think the problem is?

The Fuel Pump itself?

Where do you hear the buzzing from?

When I crank over, I hear the buzzing from the fuel pump and then 2 clicks from the motor.

I never heard buzzing before in the past when my truck was running fine.

Check all electrical connections from the battery, to the starter first. Make sure they are all clean and tight.

If that doesn't help, swap the horn relay, and the starter relay in the PDC. You can also try swapping the fuel pump relay for another one, and see if that makes any difference.

Here's a novel idea: Stick a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail to determine whether or not you're getting good fuel pressure. If you are, then you can stop worrying about the fuel pump and do some troubleshooting. If you're not, then you can check connections, swap relays, do rain dances, and all that happy stuff.

FWIW, I'm with Flue. Sounds like a scroungy battery is involved.
