Default Best wheel offset for 35"?

Whats the ideal wheel offset for 35" tires on a 2000 2500?
Or, what range should I shoot for? 4.5"? somewhere in there?
Inches would be helpful, but I can convert the mm if I need to.
Need to get some steering range back.
Thanks!

How wide are the rims you want to run?

found used ones, 7" wide. Not the best width, but for the price, I'll take it.

And the actual tire size is 315/75/16.

Those wheels are a bit narrow for those tires..... think they want 8 inch or better.... it should work... after a fashion. 4" backspacing should be about right.

Well, these tires are on my factory wheels now, and they are 7" wide iirc, but I could be wrong.

Either way, I may downsize my tires to a 305, but I still need a better offset.

Thanks heyyou for the info.

Stock offset is 4.5 on the 7.5 rims. You getting some rubbing at full lock?

You can go for shallower offset, but, they may just make them rub the fender opening instead. I think there is also the possibility of adjusting the steering stops, so they don't rub, but, that increases your already large turning radius...... Yet a third option is different lower control arms, I think there is a company that makes some that are kinda 'doglegged', so you have more clearance at the fattest part of the tire.

I don't think I'll have fender rub issue. It's a diesel 4x4. There's a good foot, foot and a half on height between the top of the tire and the fender. And on the sides of the tire, there's a good 4-6" between max tire width and fender/front bumper - rear fender.
Even if I were to get full compression of the spring, it looks like I'd have enough room still. But I'd never even see half compression on the spring. I don't off road all that much, and I bought the truck with the 35's on it.
At full lock I'm getting rub on the inside, um... sway bar area I think? I haven't looked close enough to tell exactly.
