Default oxygen sensor. what kind and how many

I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9. I hollowed my cat out while back and haven't did the non fouler trick yet. I'm planning on doin it, with that being sad are both of my O2 sensors shot since I didn't do the non fouler trick right away? Also what is a good brand O2 sensor to use? Thanks I have a sensor before cat and after.

Gutting the cat, all by itself, won't damage the sensors, but if you gutted it because it was oil fouled then the sensors are probably toast anyway. The non-fouler trick's only purpose is to prevent a CEL/cat efficiency code from being set.

Go with NTK or Denso brand oxygen sensors. All the rest are iffy.

If you're at or over 100,000 miles and still running the factory installed sensors, you can expect the sensors to fail any time now. First your fuel economy will start falling, then the truck will act up about a minute or so after cold start and run crappy until the sensor warms up, and eventually it'll get to acting up when you're cruising along with no load. By the time you get the CEL and an oxygen sensor code you'll have known about it for months.

Get the o2's from Rock Auto. And use the discount code. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...disc-code.html

Yo Zman,

So is this just one of the sensors that's ok to get from 3rd party? I've seen other sensors where it is much highly insistent to obtain from dealership. I recall the reason, but then asking what other sensors fit the "acceptability" from 3rd party scheme from other's experience?

I think the denso brand are OEM, the NTKs have proven to work, bosch have been really hit or miss. (mostly miss.....) This is more from user experience than anything else.
