Recomended rim width for that tire is 8.5" to 10" tire shops up here would not mount those tires on your stock rims.

Why would you order tires prior to knowing beforehand about appropriate rim size?

B/c that is a logical assumption in the way you wrote it. So I can assume to the best of my ability. So, for the shop that you are going to purchase, what was their response to your query?

from what I've looked into it.. 265/75/r16 is the highest that will go on those rims. Any higher like wh1te said, they will refuse to mount them, or charge extra and not give a warranty on the installation. Also you'll have to probably get spacers if you go higher, because you probably will have a rub.

Merc is most likely right since its based on the tire minimum specs.

Additionally, you'll find other similar responses.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=max+tire+width+on+16x7+wheels

Since you got that type of response from the shop....I personally would not go there.
